Welcome to Simon Lee’s website. I am a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Columbia University in the City of New York. I am also Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Royal Meteorological Society journal Weather.

My current research mainly focuses on variability in the stratospheric polar vortex, including understanding how it influences the weather and climate we experience, and how well we can represent and predict it. More broadly, I am interested in extratropical weather regimes, subseasonal-to-seasonal prediction, and large-scale weather and climate variability and change.

You can also find me on Twitter @SimonLeeWx where I mostly discuss ongoing weather and climate events, research, and academic life.
