New: Check out our new paper “Modulation of Atmospheric Rivers by the Arctic Stratospheric Polar Vortex” in Geophysical Research Letters.
Welcome to Simon Lee’s website. I am a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Columbia University in the City of New York. I hold PhD and MMet degrees from the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading, UK. I am also Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Royal Meteorological Society journal Weather.
My research mainly focuses on variability in the stratospheric polar vortex, including understanding how it influences the weather and climate we experience, and how well we can represent and predict it. More broadly, I am interested in subseasonal-to-seasonal prediction and large-scale climate variability and change.
You can also find me on Twitter @SimonLeeWx where I mostly discuss ongoing weather and climate events, research, and academic life.
